Backups
How to create and restore server backups.
Backups
Backups are available on the Pro and Elite plans. If you're on the Core plan, an upgrade prompt is shown.
Backups are snapshots of your entire server. You can create them manually at any time, and they are also created automatically on a schedule and before updates.
Backup types
| Type | How it's created |
|---|---|
| Manual | Created by you on demand |
| Scheduled | Created automatically once a day (Pro and Elite plans) |
| Pre-update | Created automatically before an OpenClaw update, so you can roll back if needed |
Creating a manual backup
- Go to Backups.
- Click Create backup.
- The backup will appear in the list once it's complete (status changes from pending to completed).
Backup retention
Backups don't stay forever. Older ones are automatically cleaned up based on your plan:
| Plan | Retention |
|---|---|
| Pro | 7 days |
| Elite | 30 days |
Restoring a backup
Restoring a backup replaces your current server data. This cannot be undone. Make sure you want to proceed before confirming.
- Go to Backups.
- Find the backup you want to restore (it must have a completed status).
- Click Restore on that row.
- Read the confirmation dialog carefully and confirm.
Your server will be briefly unavailable while the restore runs. Once it's done, your server returns to the state it was in when that backup was taken.
